In November, students in Grades 5-8 competed in classroom and grade level spelling competitions but only four finalists from each grade could compete in yesterday’s CCS School-wide Spelling Bee Tournament of Champions!
Although there were 16 finalists in total, there could only be one winner at the end of the competition that lasted 12 rounds. 7th Grader, Jassir E. proved to be victorious when he spelled “counterfeit” correctly. Jassir said this about winning, “Originally, I was just entering the spelling bee for something fun because I didn’t think I would be able to beat 15 other players from all over the school…and yet I somehow beat every other competitor.”
The CCS School-wide Spelling Bee Tournament of Champions has taken place for more than 10 years. “Over the years, the annual Spelling Bee has become a treasured tradition at CCS, providing friendly competition and inspiring our students to step beyond their comfort zones and challenge themselves.” Said Kim Christman, Spelling Bee Coordinator.
Since Jassir won the School-wide Spelling Bee, he will now advance to the Chester County Spelling Bee that will be held at the CCIU in early 2022. He also received a FREE one-year membership to Britannica Online ® for Kids (a $74.95 value).
Great job to all of the Spelling Bee competitors and congratulations to Jassir! Good luck in the Chester County Spelling Bee!
