Air Ventures Balloon Flights’ “STEM” Learning Experience

Students and Staff in our 500 Building were in for a treat when Air Ventures Balloon Flights, LLC visited for a “STEM” Learning Experience and a Tribute to Teachers and Students! Air Ventures is a fully certificated commercial sightseeing ride operation that offers hot air ballooning flights over Chester County.

Sponsored by T-Mobile, a huge pink and purple inflated hot air balloon was displayed inside of the 500 Building Gym while Air Ventures spent time going over the history of ballooning with our students. STEAM Teacher Mrs. Kahl said, “Having this event was awesome. It’s the closest we’ve been to normal since COVID and the teachers and students loved the experience.” Air Ventures’ aim was to raise questions and interest in the field of aviation, space exploration, as well as the science and industry of ballooning.

After a question and answer session, students were able to explore the inside of the balloon. They also stood inside of a gondola and learned about the different temperatures needed for hot air balloons to take flight. One student recalled, “Seeing the burner and how high the flames go was cool. We watched them from our classroom and they came all the way up to our window!”
