This evening our High School Girls Basketball Varsity team played their first in-person home game since February 1, 2020. That’s 683 days to be exact!

With sporting events like the High School Powderpuff game that recently took place before Thanksgiving Break, students, families, and CCS staff are excited for athletics to begin taking place in person again.

When Athletic Director Sarah Kurpel was asked how she felt about the basketball game taking place in person, she said, “We are so relieved to welcome indoor athletic events back to Collegium – our students, staff, and families have been so patient and careful and we’re glad to celebrate them this week…”

Not only were people able to watch the basketball game live and in action for the first time in almost two years, but they were in for another treat when the Cougars won 59 to 21 against Renaissance Academy Charter School! Varsity player Dejah M. gave her thoughts on the winning game saying, “I wasn’t really nervous because I was pretty confident in my team and I knew we could win. I liked the energy and the way we moved the ball! It was pretty good.”

Hopefully, this is just the first of many more in-person games to come this season. Good job and we look forward to watching our girls take on other schools in the future!
