Athletics at Collegium
We are excited to announce that Collegium Athletics will be back in full effect for the 2021-22 school year. This includes all Middle School and High School Sports that are listed in the links below and in the Resources section. Thank you all for your support and Go Cougars!
Collegium currently fields interscholastic athletic teams for our students in grades 7-12. We also offer intramural sports for our students in grades K-6. This aligns Collegium with PIAA eligibility standards. Student-athletes who intend to participate on an interscholastic sports team(s) for the 2021-2022 school year are required to complete the following forms:

PIAA Physicals
All students in grades 7-12 interested in trying out for and participating on a Collegium Charter School interscholastic sports team must have a new PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation completed and filed with our Athletics Department before the first day of tryouts. Physicals MUST be dated on or after June 1, 2021, to be valid for the 2021-2022 school year. For more information, please click on the Sports Medicine resource.
Competition Information
Collegium Charter School’s interscholastic athletic program is a member of PIAA and District I and competes in the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL). The league offers robust competition in all sports and includes post-season play. Collegium also competes against other schools in the following athletic leagues: Central League, Chest-Mont League, Friends League, Inter-Act League, Pioneer League, Public League, and Suburban League.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What paperwork does my child need to participate in a sport at Collegium, and when is it due?
A:
- PIAA Physical Evaluation Form
- A permission slip from the sport your child is interested in.
- All paperwork must be completed and handed in before your child can attend tryouts for that particular sport.
Q: Do I need to get another PIAA Physical Evaluation Form if my child has already participated in a sport during the current school year?
A: No, you will need to turn a PIAA Recertification Form to the current coach.
Q: Can my child play a sport that Collegium doesn’t offer?
A: Yes, If Collegium doesn’t offer a sport that your child is interested in, they can play that sport for their home district. These are the steps you would need to take to participate in your home district:
- Note from parent or guardian, stating that he has permission to participate in that sport
- Confirmation from coaches that your child is a member of the team.
- Schedule of games for that sport
- Days that he would have to leave early for games
Students are only allowed to leave school early for games. Students are not permitted to leave early for practices unless they have a study hall at the end of the day.
